Do you have sensitive teeth? If you do, you probably know that there are a number of things that could cause you discomfort. However, did you know that you may not have to deal with sensitive teeth forever? In fact, there may be a few things you can consider doing to protect your teeth from sensitivity.

Perhaps the simplest thing to do is avoid foods that are too hot or too cold. Fortunately, if you simply avoid hot foods, or let your food cool down, you can usually avoid discomfort. Similarly, you should consider staying away from cold and frozen foods. Sugary foods, highly acid foods, and spicy foods could all cause discomfort. More specifically, you may want to avoid foods and drinks issues such as apples, wine, pineapples, soft drinks and grapefruit because of their effect on your pearly whites.

Do you know what you can do to avoid or reverse sensitive teeth? If you visit our dentist once every six months we can help you prevent—and if necessary, reverse—the issue. Similarly, we recommend brushing twice a day for two minutes at a time and flossing daily. You might also be able to fight off tooth sensitivity by using over-the-counter, desensitizing toothpaste.

Fortunately, our team can offer you more specific advice.
