Did you know it’s important to change your toothbrush regularly? Well, it’s true. This is because changing your toothbrush can help you have a stronger and healthier smile as well as a more successful oral health. A worn-down and infected toothbrush can cause more harm than good. So, to help you know when to change your toothbrush in Peoria, Arizona, our dentist, Dr. Tovar, is happy to share some facts with you.

-Replace your toothbrush when you have used it for 3-4 months.

-Replace your toothbrush when the bristles have frayed or when the bristles have been worn down.

-Replace your toothbrush after you have been sick. This is important because if you don’t, the bacteria from your sickness can stay on your toothbrush and make you (and even others) sick.

If you use an electric toothbrush, you don’t need to replace the entire brush. You can just replace the toothbrush head and you should be fine. If you are worried about germs on your brush, you can always take the time to sanitize it by soaking it in antibacterial mouthwash. However, this isn’t oftentimes necessary.
