Dental Bonding
Peoria, AZ

Dentist and assistant performing a dental bonding procedure on a female patient. When teeth are chipped or cracked, there may be a good chance that they can be fixed. This may depend on how severe the crack or chipping is. If the damage is minor, then it may be a good idea to consider dental bonding.

Our team at Pleasant Valley Dentistry are professionals when it comes to fixing cracks and chips with dental bonding. This is more of a cosmetic treatment, as opposed to something that may treat severe dental issues such as cavities. If you want to see if you are a candidate for dental bonding and how it benefits you, come in and see us in Peoria, AZ.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure with the purpose of fixing teeth that are chipped, cracked, or broken. This can also help if teeth are discolored as well. The bond is a composite resin that will take the place where part of your tooth was lost.

The composite color will be closer to the color of your teeth as opposed to the same color that you will find on dental crowns. Teeth bonding works great for those who may be concerned about their smile and feel like they are not confident enough to show their teeth. The good news is the process itself is painless and does not require anything like anesthesia.

When Is Dental Bonding Necessary?

Bonding is necessary when you are dealing with cracked, chipped, or broken teeth that occur when there is no severe decay present. If the tooth is damaged beyond the point of it getting bonded, there are other options.

If you are not a candidate for bonding, do not get discouraged. Just remember that there are other restorative options out there that will allow your smile to look its best.

How The Process Works

The way the dental bonding process works is as follows:

•  First, you choose a composite resin that will match your teeth. The closer it is to the color, the better.

•  Next, one of our dentists will prepare the composite resin that will be used for bonding.

•  Once a rough surface is created, the bond is then used to mold it into the shape of the tooth where the former part of the tooth is in place.

•  Once molded, it is hardened by a UV light. It may not be perfect the first time, but it can be reshaped into something different if needed.

It is important to continue to take good care of your teeth after the bonding is hardened. Be sure to brush and floss regularly.
